A stroke is a brain injury caused by blood flow to the brain being blocked, or bleeding in the brain. After having a stroke you may experience physical, mental and emotional complications. These could include: weakness on one side of the body, joint pain, trouble walking, speech and language difficulties, trouble with memory or focusing, etc. Stroke rehabilitation programs can help you continue to live as independently as possible after a stroke, and to learn to adjust to the physical and mental changes caused by your stroke.more info

Stroke 101

Stroke 101 is a 2 hour seminar sponsored by Heart and Stroke and presented by a Stroke RN. The purpose is to educate people who have had a stroke or TIA (mini-stroke). It describes stroke, and discusses ways to minimize risk factors and to reduce the chance of a recurrent stroke. It also discusses strategies for dealing with post-stroke issues and problems. Stroke 101 is held at the Parkinson Rec Centre in the Gala room every second Wednesday afternoon at 2:15 pm. To register, please call KGH Stroke Clinic at 250-980-1392.
