Sexual Assault Response Team

Provides medical care and emotional support to anyone who has been sexually assaulted

  • provides options for your care: you can be examined and treated for your injuries, given medications for sexually transmitted infections, receive a pregnancy test and be provided with the morning after pill
  • samples can be collected for a police investigation
  • all services are free of charge

If you, or someone you know, has been sexually assaulted within the last 7 days and would like to seek medical care, you can access the SART by advising the nurse at the triage desk in the Emergency Department that you would like to see a SART physician

  • you are welcome to bring a friend or family member to support you
  • staff from the Elizabeth Fry Society, a community service organization that provides ongoing victim services for women who have been sexually assaulted, are also available to accompany you at the hospital
  • it is your choice whether or not to report to the police; we will respect your decisions
